(showbizspy.com) - Kanye West is back together with former fiancee Alexis Phifer -- and the pair are engaged again, according to a report from MediaTakeOut .
The couple originally became engaged in 2006 while vacationing in Italy.
Kanye had previously said he would tie the knot with Phifer to honor his late mother Donda's wishes that they make their relationship official.
"I'm just going to go and get married," West told GQ magazine last year. "I'm not going to make a big deal out of it."
The couple had been dating since 2002, but split briefly in 2004 when West briefly hooked up with Brooke Crittendon.
The couple's most recent split was in April this year.
A source said at the time, "Kanye is possessed by the tour and everything going on and just couldn't keep it going. They are still friends and have broken up and gotten back together before, so it could work out."
However, an insider tells the MediaTakeOut website that pair have once again rekindled their romance, with Kanye popping the question over the phone -- while he was in Hawaii and Alexis was in New York.
A rep for Kanye couldn't be reached as Showbiz Spy went to press.
