Officials say at least eight people were killed by tropical storm Mekkhala when it swept through central Vietnam earlier this week. Eight others are missing and feared dead.
Official Nguyen Khoa Thanh says in Ha Tinh province the bodies of a five-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy were recovered Wednesday, bringing the death toll there to three, reported CNN.
Rescue workers also found bodies of five fishermen in Quang Tri and Quang Binh provinces, where four other fishermen were reported missing, when the storm sank their boats Tuesday, officials there said.
Four other people were still unaccounted for in Thanh Hoa province.
