ADB pumps $400 million into road construction in Afghanistan

Afghanistan, Kabul / corr. Trend A.  Hakimi / Asia Development Bank takes part and donate extensive road building project to Afghanistan.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has promised $ 400 million to help with Afghanistan's road construction projects including the ring roads, the Faiz Abad-Ashkashim road, the second part of Kabul-Jalalabad road and the Jabalul Saraj-Sorobi road will be built.

According to a contract signed between the ministry of public works and the ADB, the money will be used to help build 2900 km of ring roads and regional roads in Afghanistan.

The ministry has said that even more money is needed to implement the project.

Head of the policy department of the ministry of public works, Muhammad Salim Bedia, said: "Most of our projects are funded by the ADB, and the ministry considering the fact that roads have a fundamental role in the country's economic growth, has vast plans in this part."

A previous ADB project, the Puli Khomri-Mazari Sharif road, will be completed within a week.

It should be mentioned that international community and ADB contribute Afghanistan in every dimension, especially in construction projects but no changes are visible in the country or in the life of people.

Recently, some MPs warned the government of widespread corruption in all government's administrantions.
