Khojali genocide condemned in Northern Cyprus

Azerbaijanis and Turkish people in the Northern Cyprus condemned the genocide committed by Armenians against Azerbaijani nation in Khojali city, the Turkish Hurriyet newspaper wrote.

MPs and representatives of the Northern Cyprus intelligentsia, participating in the event organized on occasion of the Solidarity Day of World Azerbaijanis, stressed that so far, the world community has not given a true assessment to Khojali genocide. Azerbaijan - North Cyprus Friendly Community has organized this event.

On the night of 25 to 26 February 1992 the Azerbaijani settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh, Khojali, was occupied by Armenian separatists.

In a matter of several hours, more than 600 unarmed Azerbaijani citizens, including 106 women, 63 children and 70 adults were brutally killed. Eight families were fully destroyed, 25 children lost both parents, 130 - one parent, 487 people were wounded and 150 were missing.
