Bangladesh's prime minister-in-waiting condemns Israeli aggression on Gaza
Bangladesh's prime minister-in-waiting, Sheikh Hasina Wazed, Monday condemned Israel's military aggression in the Gaza Strip and called on Muslim leaders to help stop the attacks, reported dpa.
"Muslim states should do whatever possible to relieve the distressed Palestinians under the circumstances," Hasina was quoted as saying by an aide after a group of Middle East envoys called on the newly elected leader.
Hasina expressed concern over civilian casualties as a result of the Israeli military invasion in Gaza, said Mahbubul Haque Shakil, deputy press secretary.
Hasina is expected to be sworn in as prime minister Tuesday, after her party won a landslide victory in December 29 polls.
Envoys from Arab and Middle East nations include Palestine, Libya, Morocco, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar met with Hasina at her private Sudha Sadan residence.
