A Czech lawmaker in a Saturday newspaper interview praised Adolf Hitler's policies for jump-starting Germany's failing economy before the Nazi leader triggered World War II. David Rath, a senior lawmaker for the chief opposition Social Democrats, told the Lidove Noviny daily that "Hitler solved the crisis by starting armament, by which he gave people jobs and fired up the economy. He won the election with that." Rath listed Hitler's policies of increased budget gaps and more state debt as means of cranking up an economy slowing down in the wake of the global financial crisis. He used the Hitler example to slam right-wing economists favouring tax cuts, dpa reported.Rath, a former health minister, also heads one of the country's 14 regional governments. He is the county president of the Central Bohemian region surrounding the capital, Prague.
