U.S. Vice President Biden to attend Munich security conference

U.S. Vice President Joe Biden will leave for Germany on Friday to attend the annual Munich security conference, representing the United States to urge strong cooperation among allies to confront common challenges, reported Xinhua referring to the White House.

Members of the Biden-led delegation to Munich also include President Barack Obama's national security adviser James Jones, commander in Afghanistan and Iraq David Petraeus, and envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke, according to a statement by the White House.

The vice president is scheduled to meet leaders from Germany, France, Britain, Georgia and Russia, the White House said, adding that Biden will "urge cooperation among our allies to confront the security and economic issues of a post-Cold War and post-9/11 world."
