NATO on Monday condemned "in the strongest possible terms" the terrorist attack in Cairo that killed a French woman and injured several Europeans and Egyptian civilians, dpa reported.
"There can be no justification for this cowardly and pointless attack," NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said in a statement issued by the alliance's headquarters in Brussels.
"NATO will continue to work with Egypt and with the other members of our Mediterranean Dialogue to cooperate in the fight against the scourge of terrorism," the NATO chief said.
Several French tourists, four Egyptians, three Saudis, and one German were wounded in Sunday's bomb attack against a popular tourist destination in Cairo's old city.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy has confirmed the death of one French woman.
Two unidentified suspects, a man and a woman, were reported to have been arrested overnight.
