Clash between Afghan police and Taliban insurgents claimed the lives of four Taliban insurgents and wounded eight Afghan police in southern Afghan province of Ghazni on Thursday, southwestern region police spokesperson said, Xinhua reported.
"The incidents occurred in Kabul-Kandahar highway in Ander district and the clash which lasted over an hour claimed the lives of four Taliban insurgents," Iqbal Gul told Xinhua. "Eight police also sustained injuries."
However, one official from pubic hospital in Ghazni said that eleven wounded policemen, including three in critical condition, were receiving treatments in hospital.
Taliban outfit fighting Afghan and international troops have yet to made comments.
Conflicts and Taliban-linked insurgency had left over 5,000 people, with some 2,000 civilians, dead in 2008, while the violence is predicted to go up in 2009 as U.S. government has announced sending additional troops for curbing the militancy in the post-Taliban central Asian state.
