Chinese FM meets with AL chief

Visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met Tuesday with Cairo-based Arab League (AL) Secretary General Amr Moussa on the cooperation between China and the Arabs and on means of boosting the Mideast peace process, Xinhua reported.
Yang said China-Arab relations have progressed since the two sides decided to establish new-typed partnership at the 3rd ministerial meeting of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum.
The two sides should make great efforts to strengthen mutual trust and cooperation in light of the profound changes of the international background.
China praises AL's role in resolving the Middle East issues, Yang said, adding that China is willing to keep contacts with the AL on the Mideast peace process, which is at a critical stage now.
For his part, Moussa said China has kept good ties with the AL and the Arab nations, and the China-Arab Cooperation Forum has played an important role in bilateral cooperation.
The Arabs appreciate China's role in solving the Palestinian- Israeli issue, Moussa said, adding that the Arabs are willing to coordinate and cooperate with China in boosting the Mideast peace process.
