The human cases of the swine flu virus A (H1N1) have not been detected in Greece, the country is ready for the fight against influenza, the RIA Novosti quoted Greek Health Minister Dimitris Avramopulos as saying.
"The country was prepared well, but the virus has no borders," Avramopulosa said after the meeting with Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis, as well as Internal and Education Ministers.
The cases of influenza A/H1N1 have already been confirmed in the United States, Britain, Israel, New Zealand, Canada, Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Denmark, France, South Korea, China and Italy.
The virus A/H1N1 has not been registered in Greek. The country has intensified control on borders. There are enough medicines in the country against this flu, Avramopulos said.
The World Health Organization (WHO) on Saturday said the number of human cases of the swine flu virus A (H1N1) had risen to 615 from 365. Out of which 141 have been registered in the United States. The number of infected of the swine flu virus A (H1N1) reached 160 people in the U.S. in May 1.
The Health Ministry of Mexico said the number of human cases of the swine flu virus A (H1N1) had risen to 397, including 17 people died.
