Five people died with seven others injured when a fire broke out in a house in the eastern Siberian city of Irkutsk on Sunday, local authorities said, according to Xinhua.
The Siberian regional center for emergencies received information on the fire at the eight-flat two-story wooden house in the Almaznaya Street at around 04:25 Moscow time (0025 GMT), the Itar-Tass news agency quoted the center as saying.
"According to preliminary data, a household gas cylinder blasted on the first floor of the building, which triggered the fire," Dmitry Kudryavtsev, a center official said.
A total of 28 fire-fighting units and 81 people were involved in putting out the fire, and the blaze has been completely extinguished over an hour later.
Five bodies were found at the scene, and seven injured people have been taken to hospital, Kudryavtsev said.
