The Muslim and Christian world is still focusing on the Jerusalem problem, which is a pilgrimage place for followers of three religions, King Abdullah II of Jordan said at the meeting with Pope Benedict XVI, who arrived in Amman with first official visit, "Al Urduniyya" Royal Jordanian television reported.
"The problem of Jerusalem should be solved through peaceful negotiations between Muslims and Christians," the King said. "We must work together to solve this problem and help the Palestinian people to free themselves from occupation."
Jordan will become the first Arab country where the Pope visited on May 8-11.
Benedict XVI will leave Amman for Israel.
