Turkey's ruling AK party backs Constitutional amendments and is fully ready to amend the Constitution, ANADOLU quoted Turkish State Minister Camil Chichek as saying.

The Constitutional amendments call for extending term of presidential office, enabling president who has terminated his office to run for presidency again and complicating procedures to close down ombudsman's office and political parties.

Following March 29 municipal election, speaker of the Turkish parliament Koksal Toptan said amendments are needed to be made to the Constitution. "The amendments to the Turkish Constitution will be made under law," Toptan said.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said after municipal elections that small changes will be made to the Constitution.

"AK Party has completed preparations for Constitutional amendments. The support of other parties is also important," Chichek said.

He said Turkish public supports Constitutional amendments.
