DPRK's top leader watches opera rehearsal

Kim Jong Il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), called on the people to be nurtured by world culture after watching a rehearal of a Russian opera in Pyongyang, the official Rodong Sinmun daily reported on Monday.
   Kim visited Pyongyang Kim Won Gyun Conservatory where students were rehearsing Russian opera "Evgeni Onegin," the newspaper said.
   The top leader praised the teachers and students' effort to perform the opera of high artistic value and stressed that the Korean people should get better understanding of world culture.
   The newspaper also reported another visit of Kim to the Kosan Fruit Farm, where the top leader urged to increase production to provide the people with more fruit.
   The reports did not give the date of the visits.
