Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Iran announced the date of a possible second round of presidential elections, Mehr reported.

If none of the presidential candidates has obtained the necessary number of votes in the first round, there will be a second round, which will be held June 19, Chairman of the CEC Kamran Daneshdzhu said.

Presidential elections, scheduled for June 12, will be held at 10:00-18:00, but perhaps the extension of the time of the elections will be made until midnight.

Daneshdzhu said if any candidate collects a simple majority (50 percent plus one vote) on June 12, then he will be declared the winner. Otherwise, the second round will be announced for two candidates who obtained little number of votes, he said.

According to him, the election campaign of candidates will be extended after the publication of their names until June 18, Daneshdzhu said.
