Some polling stations not to open in Kabul

Although the Afghan presidential elections were launched an hour ago, some polling stations have not been opened yet.

The biggest polling station of Kabul Khatam-al-Anbiya has not yet launched its operation, Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) reported.

Although over 100 voters are waiting in front of the polling station, Khatam-al-Anbiya has not yet opened, Trend correspondent reported from Afghanistan.

The Afghan presidential elections are holding under the strict security measures. Taliban announced that they will cut fingers of those who will participate in elections.

Karzai asked people to take an active part in today's election during his voting.

Taliban's terrorist actions claimed lives of 13 people on Aug.19.

Presidential elections started in Afghanistan on Aug.20. Some 17 million out of 29 million population of Afghanistan have the right to vote. After the beginning of the U.S. military operations in Afghanistan in 2001, this presidential election will be the second. During presidential election in 2004, Hamid Karzai won, gaining 55 percent of votes.
