A man who took his two children into the woods in
Germany to find and cut a Christmas tree lost the boy, 7, and girl, 12, triggering a mass search, police said Sunday.
Nuremberg police fanned out through the snow-covered Tennenloher Forest near the city of Erlangen and a helicopter scanned for signs of life with temperatures on Friday well below freezing. A woman passer-by found the children, who were chilled but otherwise unhurt, dpa reported.
Some Germans still like the tradition of cutting their own fir trees to decorate on Christmas Eve. But most nowadays buy trees from roadside stands.
