Star Trek star Walter Koenig confirmed the death of his son, 1980s television actor Andrew Koenig, late Thursday in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Andrew Koenig, 41, who had been missing since February 14, was found dead in a Vancouver park, People.com reported. Police confirmed that the death was an apparent suicide, DPA reported.
"My son took his own life," said Walter Koenig, 73, who played Pavel Checkov on the classic 1960s science fiction series.
His son, who had a long history of depression as an adult, was known for playing the supporting role of Richard "Boner" Stabone in the 1985-92 situation comedy Growing Pains.
