Spain coach Vicente del Bosque dropped out-of-form striker Fernando Torres for his side's semi-final against Germany on Wednesday in Durban, dpa reported.
Torres, who has not scored in the tournament, was replaced by Barcelona striker Pedro, who had come on as a substitute for Xabi Alonso in the second half in the 1-0 quarter-final defeat of Paraguay.
Cesc Fabregas, who had replaced Torres shortly after half-time in the win against Paraguay, is again on the bench.
Germany made one change from the side that beat Argentina 4-0, with Piotr Trochowski coming in for the suspended Thomas Mueller in the right of midfield.
