Report: Lindsay Lohan released from jail

Actress Lindsay Lohan was released from jail early Monday after serving 13 days of a 90-day sentence for parole violations, the celebrity magazine People reported.

The 24-year-old left the women's prison in Lynwood, California at 1:35 am, Los Angeles Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore told reporters, DPA reported.

"She has been sent directly to her next destination, which is a treatment centre. And she will now be under the supervision of the LA County probation department. This concludes her custody," Whitmore was quoted as saying.

The actress served a reduced sentence for good behaviour and due to the sheriff's long-standing policy of releasing nonviolent offenders early because of severe overcrowding, People said.

Lohan was sentenced to prison on July 6 for violating probation terms imposed after a series of drugs and alcohol-related offences.

She was handcuffed and sent to prison on Jul 20.

In addition to the jail sentence and another three months in an inpatient rehab facility, Lohan will have to stay sober for the next year until her probation term is over.
