The Christian charity International Assistance Mission (IAM) Monday confirmed that eight aid workers killed in northern Afghanistan last week were IAM staff., dpa reported.
IAM Director Dirk Frans said in Kabul, the health workers - including one German, one Briton, six US as well as two Afghan nationals - had been travelling on behalf of their organization in northeastern Afghanistan. The team had been headed by the US doctor Tom Little.
Local police found the bullet-riddled bodies of the eight medics on Friday in a remote forest on the border between Nuristan and Badakhshan provinces, where they were killed by a group of gunmen. The two Afghan members of the team survived.
