Three French crew members were kidnapped from a supply ship during an attack on an offshore oil field in Nigeria, the owners of the ship, Bourbon Maritime, said Wednesday, reported DPA

The attack was carried out overnight Tuesday to Wednesday by kidnappers on several speedboats at the Addax oil field off the coast of Nigeria, the company said in a statement posted on its website.

The 13 other members of the ship's crew were allowed to remain on board. No one was injured in the attack.

The company said no one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. It was not known if it was related to the September 16 kidnapping of seven people, five of them French nationals, in northern Niger by the group Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb
