An earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale jolted near San Jose, Costa Rica, on late Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said, Xinhua reported.
The quake occurred with a depth of some 98 km, said the USGS. There were no immediate reports of serious damage or casualties.
Meanwhile, witnesses in Costa Rica said they could feel the tremor and cellular phone service were partially interrupted during the quake.
