At least one policeman was killed and several were wounded in a suspected suicide bomb attack on a police station in the southern Russian republic of Dagestan, local police said on Monday, RIA Novosti reported.
"According to preliminary reports, a woman was approaching the police station when the police officer on duty called for her to turn back," the source said. "At that moment the woman detonated an explosive device."
Police said another four were police officers had been hospitalized. All were security officers who were guarding the police station.
Terrorist attacks and shootouts with police are common in Russia's troubled North Caucasus republics, especially Dagestan and neighboring Chechnya and Ingushetia.
