After almost month of hectic debates and differences the members of Wolesi Jirga or Lower House of Afghan parliament elected Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi as speaker of the house on Sunday, Afghan government's official news agency Bakhtar reported.
"Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi secured 169 votes out of 173 members of Wolesi Jirga attended the session today and thus elected as speaker of the Lower House for five years," Bakhter reported in its bulletin.
Election for 249-seat Wolesi Jirga or Lower House of Afghan parliament was held in September 18 of 2010, Xinhua reported.
