German teen sentenced for threatening Islamist attacks in videos

An 18-year-old was sentenced in Germany on Thursday to a youth detention centre for posting videos online that threatened Islamist attacks, DPA reported.

The defendant had admitted in court that he posted threatening videos last year and made plans to carry out attacks, to bring about the release of Daniel Schneider, a member of the so-called Sauerland Group jailed for plotting a separate militant Islamist attack.

The man, from Neunkirchen near the western town of Saarbruecken, was given a sentence of one year and four months, for disturbing the peace by threatening attacks.
