Pakistani security forces killed seven militants in a clash in the northwestern area of the country on Sunday, reported local Urdu TV channel Geo News.
According to the report, the clash broke out when a group of militants tried to enter the Swat area from Mohmand Agency via the Dir district. During the crossfire, a member of the security personnel died and two others were injured, Xinhua reported .
Bordering Afghanistan, Mohmand Agency is one of the seven tribal areas in Pakistan. Due to its adjacence to Afghanistan and its special terrain, the area is an important hideout of militants. The area is often plagued by terrorism. On July 9, 2010, a twin suicide blast taking place at a market place in the area killed at least 107 people and injured more than 120 others.
