Toyota Motor Corp is to halt production in Europe for several days in April and May due to supply shortages caused by the devastating March 11 earthquake and tsunami, the carmaker said Wednesday, dpa reported.
The world's largest carmaker faces difficulties to maintain production levels, as the plants and logistics operations of many parts manufacturers in north-eastern Japan have been affected by the quake.
In Europe, the suspension is to affect assembly and manufacturing plants in Britain, France, Turkey and Poland, Toyota said on its website.
Toyota already announced a four-to-five-day production suspension in most of its 14 North American plants in March.
Toyota said it was still undecided about production plans further down the road.
