A Boeing 777 passenger plane with 239 passengers onboard travelling from Washington made an emergency landing in Athens Thursday after a fire broke out in the luggage compartment, DPA reported.
The Saudi Arabia Airlines plane requested to land at Athens' International Airport after the pilot said he suspected that a fire had broken out.
The plane was scheduled to land in Riad, Saudi Arabia when it was redirected to Athens. All passengers are safe, airport officials said.
