At least two people were killed and several others injured from a deflagration in a building near Shanghai People's Square Tuesday afternoon, said local authorities, Xinhua reported.
The accident went off at around 2 p.m. and caused a fire which was put out shortly afterwards, said local police.
The injured have been rushed to hospital. Police are investigating the incident.
