Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan is to call for Chubu Electric Power Co to stop reactors at its nuclear plant situated near a fault line in central Japan, an earthquake-prone country, news reports said Friday.

Kan is to urge the operator to shut down reactors 4 and 5 at the Hamaoka nuclear power plant in the City of Omaezaki, south-west of Tokyo, public broadcaster NHK reported.

The company said recently it would restart reactor 3 at the plant to maintain a stable power supply this summer, DPA reported.
