An Austrian woman has died after slipping and falling into a waterfall in western Norway, media reports said Saturday.
The accident occurred Friday when the 61-year-old woman and her husband were visiting the well-known Voringsfossen waterfalls at Eidfjord, DPA reported.
The woman was posing for a photo near the edge of the falls, and slipped when she stepped back, falling some 100 metres, the newspaper VG reported.
It has rained a lot in the region, making the rocks at the location very slippery, police spokesman Bjarne Floknes said.
A helicopter was later deployed to retrieve the body.
Public broadcaster NRK reported that in 2009 a Russian man died in a similar accident at the falls.
