Eight people were killed and 18 others were injured in a bus accident on Wednesday on the Trakia motorway in central Bulgaria, local police said.
The accident took place around 1:00 a.m. local time near Plovdiv, 125 km southeast of Sofia, when the 36-year-old driver, traveling from Sofia to Burgas, suddenly lost control, the police said, Xinhua reported.
Six of the victims died on the spot, while the other two died on the way to hospital. The case was under investigation, said the police.
In 2010, car accidents killed 775 people in the Balkan country.
