The Philippines on Saturday expressed great sorrow and pain over the deadly terrorist attacks in Norway that killed dozens, a spokeswoman for President Benigno Aquino III said, dpa reported

Deputy presidential spokeswoman Abigail Valte said Norway is a very good friend of the Philippines since Oslo is the broker of the ongoing peace talks between government and communist guerrillas.

"It adds to the great sadness that we feel," she said.

"We condole with the families of those who were killed," she added. "We know the agony of those who lost their loved ones in this kind of situation."

The Philippines Department of Foreign Affairs said that based on its initial information, there were no Filipinos among the casualties.

The department said there are 16,000 Filipinos living in Norway.
