Two New Zealand soldiers were killed and six wounded in a clash with insurgents in Afghanistan, Prime Minister John Key announced in Wellington on Sunday, dpa reported.
Key said the troops, serving with the New Zealand army's Provincial Reconstruction Team in Bamyan province, had gone to the aid of local security forces when they came under attack about 0800 GMT Saturday.
Two local security troops were also killed and 20 injured.
Seven New Zealand soldiers have now died in Afghanistan.
