The speaker of Croatia's parliament, Boris Sprem, died of cancer in a US hospital, dpa said Sunday.
Sprem, 56, had been battling multiple myeloma, an aggressive form of skin cancer, at the Houston MD Anderson Cancer Center.
The legislature elected Sprem speker in December after the electoral victory of the Social Democratic Party.
