US airlines cancelled 2,800 flights Wednesday due to the aftermath of superstorm Sandy, bringing the total number of storm-related cancellations this week to 19,500, according to flight portal FlightAware.com, reported dpa.

US airlines cancelled 2,800 flights Wednesday due to the aftermath of superstorm Sandy, bringing the total number of storm-related cancellations this week to 19,500, according to flight portal FlightAware.com, reported dpa.

The worst affected airports were in New York, Philadelphia, Boston and Washington, with only partial service in most of those facilities.
