The current U.S. President Barack Obama wins U.S. presidental elections on the number of votes of electors, CNN reported.

At the moment, Obama has 244 electoral votes, Romney - 203. To win candidate needs to have 270 votes out of 538.

Elections are held in a "winner takes all" when the candidate with a simple majority of votes in the state takes all the electoral votes from that state. In addition, each state has a certain number of electoral votes equal to the number of representatives in Congress (two senators from each state, and several congressmen, depending on the number of districts).
