US President Barack Obama and Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi agreed Wednesday on the importance of working toward a more durable solution to the situation in Gaza, DPA reported.
Obama and Morsi spoke by telephone, the White House said in a statement. The US president reaffirmed the close partnership between the US and Egypt and welcomed Morsi's commitment to regional security.
He also thanked Morsi for his efforts to achieve a sustainable ceasefire and for his personal leadership in negotiating a ceasefire proposal. Morsi expressed appreciation for Obama's efforts in achieving a ceasefire.
