Connecticut shooter misidentified in initial reports

The suspected gunman in a rampage at a Connecticut elementary school was initially misidentified in US media reports, even as police declined to publicly name the gunman, DPA reported.

Law enforcement officials told CBS News the suspect was Adam Lanza, not his brother, Ryan, who had earlier been named as the gunman.

Their mother was reportedly a kindergarten teacher at the school, and many of the dead were killed inside her classroom.

Ryan Lanza was being interviewed by police, but there was no indication he was complicit in any crime.
