Barack Obama pledges support for democracy: "Asia to Africa"
US President Barack Obama vowed Monday to uphold US values in the world through "strength of arms and rule of law", DPA reported
In his second inaugural address on the National Mall in Washington, Obama said the country would "show the courage to try and resolve our differences with other nations peacefully" while remaining the "anchor" of alliances around the world.
"We will support democracy from Asia to Africa, from the Americas to the Middle East, because our interests and our conscience compel us to act on behalf of those who long for freedom," he said.
"Peace in our time requires the constant advance of those principles that our common creed describes: tolerance and opportunity, human dignity and justice."
