Afghan president reveals talks between US, Taliban
Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Sunday revealed that the Taliban have been holding regular talks with the US government, dpa reported.
"In European and Gulf countries, talks have been held between the Taliban and Americans on a daily basis," Karzai told an event commemorating International Women's Day.
The insurgents reportedly suspended talks with the US last year in Qatar.
"Taliban are engaged in talks with Americans every day but they explode bombs in Kabul and Khost to show their power to the US, as they claimed," Karzai said.
On Saturday, 18 people including children were killed and more than a dozen others wounded in separate suicide attacks in the capital and Khost province.
Karzai said the attacks serve US interests to stay longer in Afghanistan.
"We are aware of the talks. Both foreigners and some patriot Taliban give us information about the ongoing talks between Taliban and Americans," he said.
