At least 37 passengers were killed and another 14 injured Tuesday when a bus fell into a river in India's western state of Maharashtra, police said, dpa reported.
The accident occurred in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra when the driver lost control of the vehicle on a bridge causing it to fall into the Jagbudi river. The bus was carrying passengers from Goa to Mumbai.
"A Russian national is among those injured, there could be foreign and domestic tourists among the casualties," an official from the Ratnagiri police department said on condition of anonymity.
The injured, including the driver, were taken to hospital, and rescue operations were continuing, he said.
