Russia begins large-scale exercises in Black Sea
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the start of large-scale military exercises in the Black Sea region, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said, RIA Novosti reported.
"Today, at four in the morning, Russian President and commander in chief ordered the Minister of Defense of Russian Federation to start large-scale military exercises in the Black Sea. This is a large-scale sudden test- exercise" Peskov said.
Its main purpose is to check readiness and coordination of actions of different units, he added.
According to him, the exercise is taking place with participation of 36 ships, rapid reaction forces, airborne troops and special forces of the special unit of the General Staff group.
