5.8-magnitude earthquake hits parts of Pakistan

An earthquake of 5.8 magnitude jolted parts of Pakistan including the capital city of Islamabad on Saturday evening, Trend reported citing Xinhua.

According to the center, the earthquake struck at 5:04 p.m. local time, with the epicenter determined in Hindu Kush Region in Afghanistan with a focal depth of 80 km.

The strong tremors were felt in different areas of Pakistan, including northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and its area bordering Afghanistan and some districts of eastern Punjab province, local media reported.

The tremors created panic among people who rushed to the open places, the reports said. No loss of life or property is reported yet.
