Uzbekistan's CCI, Portuguese Industrial Association establish co-op

Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Portugal (with residence in Paris) Sardor Rustambayev took part in online negotiations between representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Uzbekistan, the Uzcharmsanoat Association and the Portuguese Industrial Association (AIP), Trend reports citing the Uzbek media.

During the event, the Portuguese side was informed that since April 10 of this year, Uzbekistan has become one of the beneficiary countries of the EU GSP + preferences program.

Obtaining this status will increase the supply of products of Uzbek manufacturers-exporters to the EU countries, including Portugal.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Uzcharmsanoat presented information on the potential of Uzbekistan, as well as investment projects in the leather and footwear industry and opportunities for developing cooperation.

In turn, the participant of the meeting, the AIP Vice President Jorge Pais, highly appreciated the economic reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan and the policy of creating favorable conditions for business development, a pragmatic approach to the development of economic and trade relations.

Pais confirmed the readiness of AIP to assist in the establishment and development of cooperation between the companies of the two countries.

As a practical step, the Portuguese side proposed to develop a draft Agreement on cooperation between the CCI and AIP, which will confirm the readiness of the parties to support cooperation between Uzbek and Portuguese companies.

Furthermore, an agreement was reached on the regular distribution of information and samples of Uzbek products in the textile, leather and other fields by the AIP among the business circles of Portugal.
