Ukraine's president promises to cancel tariff increase

(ForUm) - President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko declares that he will decree to cancel increase of tariffs for public utilities, if Kyiv mayor does not revise them, reports Trend.

As a President I cannot allow sudden worsening of life of Kyiv citizens. I charged Kyiv mayor Leonid Chernovetsky to revise the approved tariffs, Yushchenko said, president's press office reported.

According to him, experts' calculations show that according to economic grounds, tariffs for public utilities for all levels of population must be decreased by 10%. If the Kyiv authorities does not agree with my proposals, I will declare to cancel the tariffs, the President of Ukraine underlined.
