( RIA Novosti ) - The NASA space shuttle Endeavour will be launched to the International Space Station from Cape Canaveral at 6:36 p.m. local time (10:36 p.m. GMT) Wednesday, a NASA spokesman said.

He said specialists had finished inspecting the newly-installed air pressure-relief valve in the shuttle's crew cabin, and that a recent air leak had now stopped.

After the discovery of an abnormal leak rate in the cabin last week, the air valve was replaced with one from the Atlantis shuttle.

The 11-day flight to the International Space Station will be the first for Endeavour since 2002.

New equipment on the shuttle will make it possible to receive power directly from the orbital station for the first time, allowing shuttle crews to remain in orbit for longer.

At the ISS, shuttle astronauts plan to conduct three spacewalks to upgrade the station.
