Russian and Pakistani servicemen will practice "fox hunting" - an orienteering competition - in the mountains in the framework of the "Friendship 2018" military drills, the press service of Russia's Southern Military District told on Saturday, TASS reports.

"Russian and Pakistani servicemen will participate in an orienteering competition in the mountains at the training range for special services in the village of Cherat of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the framework of the joint Russian-Pakistani drills 'Friendship 2018'," the press service said.

Around 150 servicemen from the two countries will take part in the competition, including 70 mountain shooters from Russia's Karachay-Cherkessia. The servicemen will also have to demonstrate their skills in crossing mountain rivers, providing emergency medical assistance and evacuating the injured from mountainous areas.

The teams of Russian and Pakistani servicemen earlier competed in football and tug of war at the training range in Cherat. Pakistani servicemen won the football match after scoring two goals, and Russian servicemen won in the tug of war.

Russian-Pakistani third joint military drills "Friendship 2018" will end on November 4. The military exercise is aimed at practicing coordination during combat in the mountains and cooperation in the fight against illegal armed groups.
